So I bought this sign earlier today from a buddy of mine, I need some help identifying when it was created, who was using this sign and who would have cut and painted this sign. It's really rough as you can see the paint is flaking the wood is splitting but at the same rate the sign is pretty freaking cool and I am happy to be the owner. If you have any answers or ANY info please help me out, I'm dieting to find out age. Anyways thanks for looking and taking the time to look at my pictures
I know this sign is not porcelain it is made of wood!! The reason I put it under porcelain is because I feel the automotive Guys and Gals would give me the best information available
He is Bibelin, the Michelin tires mascot….
His real name is Bibendum, Google it.
cool...
a lot of signs were made from wood during the WW#2 years as shortages of metal made for scarce supplies for sign makers.
This looks very well done, and was definitely by the hand of a professional sign painter.
