Three vases (one a miniature) belonging to a line produced at Aluminia (later Royal Copenhagen) only 1927-1932, bearing the informative (but quite unimaginative) name 'matte porcelain'. I come across items from this line from time to time, and at first I didn't like them much, but they have grown on me and now I quite like them! In any case, they are extremely typical of their time and could only have been designed around 1930.

The line, which consisted of 167 different shapes and 80 different types of decoration, was designed by Nils Thorsson (1898-1975). All the items are cream-coloured and decorated with rather stylised flowers, fruits, birds, and fish in a few colours, namely black, dark blue, sepia, and brown.

On front side, the vases are decorated with a relatively elaborate decoration and on the back side part of the decoration is repeated.

Height: Tallest vase 12.5 cm, miniature 5.5 cm. The sexagonal vase is 6.5 cm tall and has a width of 12.5 cm. Mark: all vases are marked with circle with three waves which is the mark used by Aluminia at the time (only on matte porcelain, thiugh). Moreover, they all carry a number above a line (shape no.) and one under (decoration no.). Some of the shapes are found with different types of decoration. Finally they all have a sign (question mark, star, etc.) which I guess indicates the painter. Also: 'København' ('Copenhagen') and 'Danmark'.
