A typically well made vase from Kurata, made from a lovely teal glass with added gold and silver accents, and then given a satin finish.

The shape and metal inclusions are SO Japanese. Colour too I think!

What a lovely vision Ivonne! Thanks.

Thanks surfdub, you are one that seems to like my Japanese glass and I appreciate it!

I think this colour and style would fit well with your collection vintagelamp.

      Smooch Sean.

      that is divine
So assist me because I think Id like to get some of these that you show us.
Did Mikasa buy Kurata, similar to what they did with Walther and Sohne? Or was it alwas a Mikasa style?
This blue one is just gorgeous and looks lovely with the plinth or the word I cant find, the stand. oh my words are lost today..
but it shows it beautifully ....

Thanks Anne..hope you are pulling up OK today.

Kurata actually made (as far as I know) all of the glass for Mikasa up until Mikasa bought their interest in Walther. I think that was around late 90s? - not sure of the date. Kurata made mainly pressed and cut glass for Mikasa with some production blown work also. In it's own name Kurata (more correctly Joetsu Glass) got a bit more arty and free. I do have some gorgeous Kurata for Mikasa pieces but the Kurata studio work like this is more appealing to me.
