Need help identifying this. I have been to a antique dealer who had no idea of what this could be. He told me that it could be old its all hand made, the head unscrews off , may be made of pewter snd some type of silver plate. Lions maybe a symbol to ward off evil and the peacock head to protect. I need an identification, age, value?? Please help
To me, appears E. of European. is the threading machine made or hand made? Machinery for making threads didn't come out until 1760-1770's & would surely take longer to filter further E.. That doesn't give you a date if machine made as it could be anytime afterwards. Just a guess, I would say maybe 1940's. The cartouche looks Greek to me. Hope this helps or points you in the right direction.
I was told the threads were handmade. I see no markings and the antique dealer did not see anything either. Thank you for the tips
Looks like a chameleon.
Do you think it could be one of a kind? I have been searching for months online. No matter what I search I find nothing even similar to it. Do any of you know how I would get an age and identity for this? Who would I contact?
Do you think the animal on the side cold be a chameleon?
I think they are winged rampant lions. Just my guess from trying to search this piece out. My searches take me no where. The closest looking piece is a samavor? But still I see nothing like this. I'm going to add some pictures of the threads on screw off head. Also do you think the piece on handle with chain comes off? It looks as if that handle maybe hollow and it goes down into the pot from looking inside the bottle.
I thought that was a cap on the spout & the other side was the handle.
Can you get a better image of that critter on the side.
