    Vintagemen…
    (1 item)

Hi aLL! My first post here & I'm already asking for help. :D Other than endlessly searching the web, I really don't know what key words to look for & I want to learn more about these mugs like; design/pattern name/type, age, USA logo meaning, manufacturer, etc., so ANY info you can offer about these mugs (or simply where I should begin searching for info) will be greatly appreciated.

Even though I collect various types of items, I'm pretty clueless about these wares. I thought the pattern type resembled Celtic Avant Garde or Folk Art, but heck, I'm not even sure what kind of bird is on one of the circular "crests." (Maybe partridge? Or maybe Dodo like me!). The "crests" on the other mugs feature hearts or stars or both. The colors are vibrant & are accented by a shiny gold (paint?) color (but don't look hand painted). Also, U.S.A. is visible on each bottom.

Anyhoo… Not much more to share other than photos, but it may help to know that the mugs are from my aunt's estate, so I think she may have acquired them in the 40-50's (not sure) but I don't know if purchased new or not, either.

Now it's great to be here & I'm sure you'll see me again soon… Sorry! My G-Ma was 1 of 11 children (a collection in itself) & as those family members passed on, many passed things on to me so I've become a collector of other collectors' collections. (In other words, I have accumulated lots of cool (to me) stuff & I have lots of questions). Again, thanks for your thoughts! :D

These are Hex Signs, a Pennsylvania Dutch (German) tradition. Each has a meaning, to bring good luck for example.

I have that bird emblem one on one of my souvenir spoons - first time I've seen it elsewhere and couldn't identify it's origin previously.

Thanks TA & AGH! Any idea of date or manufacturer? I'd also love to know meanings of the Hex signs but I'll search for that info later (and I'll just believe they all mean good luck for now)! Oh, & AGH, your souvenir must be a T-spoon… it matches my mug's bird symbol to a "T"! :D Wow!
