Hi to everyone
The sword is originated from Germany, the seller said that made somewhere late 19th century. This is an officer sword. Strange is the sentence on the sword " D.A. Nohaschich - Hofschwertfeger in Mainz " (" judicial in Mainz").
Does anyone know what this dedication might mean, does anyone know exact time when the sword was made?
The length of the blade ca. 83 cm
The length ca. 96 cm
This is Imperial German Army artillery officer's sword, and the inscription helps pin it down. D.D. Nohascheck was a sword dealer in Mainz between 1890 and 1915. I am not sure, but I believe "Hofschwertfeger in Mainz" indicates the district in Mainz where his business was. It's not unusual for a sword retailer to mark his company on the spine of a sword.
I meant D.A., not D.D. - I guess I was too focused on the spelling of "Nohascheck"
Thank you Chrisnp
