When i started posting on this site, i saw alot of old photos and it made me revisit some of my family photos i had stored. my first post of my parents wedding in london during the war garnered some great comments and loves. Here is another one from 1947. Its my fathers hockey team, he played goal. It would have been the first year after arriving home from the war and discharge from the army. I look at this photo and marvel at the equipment or should I say the lack of equipment they wore, especially goalies. I am also a goalie and still play twice a week, but wear considerably more equipment.
Great period sport photo.
Great photo and story! Yes when you see how little they wore back then - it makes you wonder. When you see the New Goalie Mask that they wear now (and designs) as compared to what Gerry Cheever Goalie mask was like years ago. I grew up with brothers playing Hockey, played some Girls Hockey for one year (after I quit figure skating....lol) and our family loved to watch "Hockey Night in Canada"

When it comes to chasing that little puck - it is very serious Game. Great post!! Loved it!!
To antiquerose....thank you for the great feedback, glad you enjoyed the post. I will check out the links after work. I had the opprotunity to play goal for Gerry Cheevers brother Pats' hour of hockey here in the Niagara Penninisula for about 12 years. Gerry was also one of my favourite goalies as i was growing up and playing goal. Take care
