This bowl designed by Denji Takeuchi is one I consider an exceptional piece of modernist glass. Made by Sasaki to their usual high standard in the 60s it is perfectly balanced in proportion and shape - I'm just sorry you can't physically experience it!
Takeuchi spent some time working in the USA and Europe in 1962/63 and I recall reading that he was greatly affected by the clean lines of Scandinavian glass art of this era. Certainly sparse, clever design like this remained a design style for him.
This bowl came in different sizes and in amber, green and blue. I would love a full set!
Also in this series is a fantastic teardrop shape bowl I hanker for. Unfortunately I am not alone and these Takeuchi designs are extremely hard to find.
This one arrived in it's original box and is pretty well perfect.
Diameter 18cm
It's very beautiful. I like the modern lines and the color.

Hi
Think I have a Green smaller one of these. Absolutely exceptional. Mines 14cm ????
I have read somewhere that the design came in two sizes but have only ever seen the 18cm bowl. Nice you have one!
