Whale Tail is spelled correctly and it is a whale of a tale, as are many of the stories of how we get our signs. This one is called a whale tail because of the shape of the neck of the sign structure. If you look at it closely you will see it is shaped just like a whales tail. We've never seen a big 6' MOBIL on a Banjo pole before and love the look of this one. The pole itself is a very old 6 sided pole we got in Salt Lake. The sign was passed around from Collector to collector in the Salt Lake area, and as usual, the price increased with every owner. Inflation? This sign is obviously added to the series of signs along the East border of the property that allows Outoodr RV storage at aaalakesidestorage.com in Provo Ut. and is just a small part of the Petroliania collection. We still have a few more signs waiting for us to stand them up so be patient till we get the collection"complete". Whatever that means?
Does it say Mobiloil around the base of the pole?
No. The pole is about 12' tall to the bottom of the sign which makes it about 18' tall overall. The pole use to have some embellishments on the bottom of some of the sides but they have rusted off and we never got them. Actually it was the bolts that rusted off so the little 3x3" pieces are now gone.
