I really didn't feel like doing much shopping today. Very cold today despite the sun. It was - 5 this morning. So I decided to go to our little local Salvation Army in town. It's in an old 50's type building nothing like the new mega-store I get most of my jewelry from. Occasionally I find something interesting. This was sitting on the shelf with a bunch of candle holders and knick knacks. I picked it up and put it back a few times and then gave in. The shape and hypnotic stripes are pretty cool just not too fond of the few lime green ones. Nice polished pontil on the bottom and heavy for it's 7" tall x 5" diameter bottom size. I'm horrible with glass but I figure the polished pontil at least means it was hand made. Not a clue as to who the maker could be. Probably Chinese ....lol . -Mike-
beautiful!!
Thanks Sean :)
your very welcome Mike!! :)
Nice piece Mike -- I think you might find your answer here:

Thanks Rose :) as I figured. It was only 3 bucks and better than coming home empty handed. I had seen one of these online suggesting it was a Murano canne vase "in the style of" a Gio Ponti Venini piece and they wanted 195 bucks for that one. Buyer beware ! A pair of his decanters were selling on 1st dibs for $7500.00 marked down from $9000.00. Quite a bargin....lol .When I see just one of something in the image galleries that's always a red flag to me.

Thanks Ken :),,,,, although green is one of my least favorite colors . Yellow comes first...lol. I'm more a red or blue person.
I actually like Mike better too. The Lime Green sets it off more!! My blue one looks just blah. I agree with NUTS
Now children let's no argue.....lol.... Well, Ken as far as estate sales go, I live with and take care of my parents so when the time comes my Dad has informed me that being the the eldest son I'm the executor of his estate. I should be here to take care of everything personally barring any unforeseen circumstances :)
Estates + unforeseen circumstances ??
Ask me about that. Not fun!!!
No need to ask Rose after it sunk in I wasn't so sure I could or want to handle it but you never know what you can do until you have to. I have five other brothers and sisters and I hope they would help out when the time comes.
Cool, love it ;-)
Thanks SD :)
@mike -- I hope so. When it comes to Estates and the simplest thing that *was Dads* -- suddenly a fight breaks out because Dad promised me this, or that.
It is hard thing to do.....
Mike - Read my post below, and it is sometimes the best thing to do right now.

""" If friend or relative, alike,
Admires something that I own;
From hereon in, I plan to say,
"It's yours ... please take it home."
I'd rather see their pleasure now,
As long as I am able;
I'll have more joy from my things,
Than if displayed later on some (estate) table.""""
A very fine and famous governor of Texas, Ann Richards, RIP, said in an interview that her mother used to worry so much about who would get what when she passed, that she (Ann) "wouldn't give you a plugged nickel for a cut glass bowl."
