My Reed & Barton Silver Service

Hi! About 15 years ago, my husband ran across this silver plate tea/coffee service at a nice antique shop in my hometown of Montgomery, Alabama. He knew my penchant for silver and he thought I would love to have such an unusual set; he was right. I love this wonderful service but no information was given at the sale and it has remained a mystery all these years. I do know the pieces aren't sterling and in fact it looks as if a previous owner put some kind of coating on the pieces to keep them from tarnishing - unfortunate. Each piece of the service is engraved with the likeness of what appears to be a soldier. There are five unique soldiers with a couple of the pieces having the same face. I've never seen anything like this before and I'm hoping perhaps one of you knows something about this unique goup. The bottom of each piece bears the Reed & Barton name along with the number(s) 2114, but there is no picture or mark to signify year. There are several places where the silver has worn off revealing what I assume is copper. I would really appreciate any information you might be able to give me about one of my favorite gifts ever!
