This is jam or marmalade jar is known as the "Turn Top." It was manufactured by the Manning-Bowman Company, and it appeared in the 1941 catalog as item #336. The catalog ad reads, "Lift top, turn it aside, let it down and lo, the cover is suspended in the air...out of the way, while you scoop up jam with the neat glass ladle." It's a great Machine Age design, in chrome and glass. The glass insert is likely made by the Heisey Glass Company, since they produced a similar jam jar.
