    Hi Collectors,
I found this Jack in the Pulpit at a thrift store and thought it might be something special. It has what appears to be a signature. I have been all over the webb and searching all types of art glass: Czech, French, Italian and feel I have come close sometimes but......frusteratingly haven't pinned it down. I don't know if the exposed glass in the handle is an artist interpretation or a repair. I think maybe I should have come here first. Thank you for any input you might have.

Can you post another pic of the signature? Or rub some white powder over it and take a Pic? Thanks

      Welcome here,,,:) from me to......
You can add another picture from the underneath pontil(you allowed to 4 picture), and maybe use natural light for the signature(no flash)this could help, also some mesurement to.

Thank you antiquerose and Alan for your help. I am afraid that the powder didn't help much as the etch is shallow. Maybe you will see something I don't. I removed one of the photos to show pontil as you requested Alan. Hope this gives you a clue. Fingers Crossed!

I think this is one of those modern pieces of glass from Spain....I have seen a few with that 'Bronze Overlay'..it certainly is very interesting and hard to be sure from your photos, I would have picked it up too...a mystery is always a great way to learn...welcome to CW as well!...:-)

Yes, mystery is what drives me (crazy!). I buy glass sometimes because it intrigues me and I want to find out more about it. When I can't find an answer I go positively insane. I have been a glassnut for about three years now and have some amazing pieces just from thrifting.

Inky, I googled bronze overlay glass from Spain and nothing came of it. Do you have a suggestion for google search? I would like to solve this mystery :)

I will try and find you something...and get back to you!...you never know someone may come in in the meantime and solve it for you...Would love to see some more of your pieces, I used to thrift all the time but now that I live rural it is too! far for me to go I just look on the 'www' and I get very lucky sometimes!....I too looove my glass and I think it is safe to say it is an addiction...one which by the sound of it...you have too..lol!...but! to me also is the researching of a piece I have, that I got just on a hunch to find that you were right...sometimes!! wrong but those get less with time as they always teach you what to look for or not!!!.....:-)

Hi found a couple similar and if you go through the pages you will find a couple more...I knew I had seen them somewhere was just wrong with the country!!..:-/...I think it may be Romanian..the thing I thought was a little different was the signing on the side of the vase and not the base..witch this have been also.....any way! I hope this gives you another different place to look, good luck mI will be keeping an eye on it and looking out and if I come across anything else will flick it your way!....:-)

You got it right! I am convinced that the vase IS by Dan Bancila enough so that this is solved. You are brilliant, thank you so much! So kind of you to take up my search with me. I have been obsessed all day. Too many hours of using different search terms to identify, but satisfying in the end. Now I can sleep, YAY!

Inky, I looked at your domain and see you are from New Zealand. I am from California, USA. Crazy small world when a person on another part of the globe helped me identify a little vase.

I saw all the glass you posted. Beautiful pieces. They aren't all yours are they? If they are, I am impressed!

I'm pleased..and the wonders of the internet were we can make friends and help each other all over the world...I love it!..
I know what it is like to on keep searching...it melds into one...you just need a fresh angle and hopefully I helped with that!
Unfortunately or fortunately!!...that is not all!!! my glass...I do have a bit more..;-}...I told you it is addictive... :-)

Wow! I don't come across such beautiful glass at the thrift shops around here. I find a lot of Murano, but rarely anything unique. I also find Blenko, an American company that made quirky pieces that are becoming interesting to collectors. I also see Scandinavian glass which is often overlooked by other thrifters. Are those Boda pieces I see in your collection?

You have one of the most beautiful collections I have come across. So many amazing pieces. Each a treasure :)
