      Blanks were often hobbiest decorated, I'd guess that's the situation with yours. The inset rim would be consistent with an item that had a lid at some point.

      Thank you art.pottery to comment on this item. I did quite a bit of searching on this item but like you said, probably an unknown artist signed. I don't have a lid but that is sure good to know, that there was a lid at one time. Again appreciate your comments!
