This first pix of the very cool P-40 Warhawk fighter on the roof of an antique gas station in Everett Washington reminded me of seeing a twin engine plane on the roof of a gas station in Salt Lake City when I was a kid. I figured if these guys could do it then I could do it! When I finally got a call from a guy in NC telling me he had a P-51 that was disassembled that he wanted to sell for a friends widow, I could hardly get my breath!!! We were soon loaded up & on our way with cash in our pockets and dreams in our heads. The picture in the middle is of us hauling the plane on our trailer that was too small for it and would not let us make left turns without hitting the wing against the back of the Pick Up pulling the load. The last pix is the one we had hoped it might be. This is the result of dreaming! Keep on dreaming and then make your dreams come true. This is America and we can do anything or become anything we want. Have fun in the process!

Sorry. I thought everyone knew that Salt Lake City is SLC because that is what the airlines call it. Another Duhhhh on my part. Interesting how we become accustomed to using certain abbreviations for things and then can't understand why people have no idea what we are trying to say. In Hawaii locals use the term DaKine for anything or anyone whose name we can't remember and then act as tho the person we are speaking with is an idiot if they don't know who or what we are talking about? Really? I have obviously fallen victim of the same sloppy English and jargon use. Sorry! ????
I sure would luv to find a Flying A embossed sign like the one on this building below the P-40. We do have a very cool Flying A "chicken wing" GAS sign under ours but I like the 4' Embossed even better. Another dream waiting to come true? Maybe some reader knows of one in the back of a barn somewhere? Time will tell if we can just keep waking up every day for a long enough time.
Is that a 3 blade prop instead of the 4 blade?
Interesting that you are the first one to notice that. The early versions with the Allison engines had 3 blade props and we have both sets but installed the 3 blades as it was easier. Remember that ours does not have the engine in it to save on weight and cost. If you look carefully you will also see that the blades are behind the nose cone rather than protruding through the cone. Also done for ease of assembly. Good catch!
Really can't tell that about the spinner in the pic. I'm an A&P.
