Someone was going to throw this out and asked if I wanted it. He told me his grandfather worked for Wurlitzer and that this was a prototype. He said only like 7 or 9 of these were ever made and that the company felt the single keyboard wouldn't be appealing to the marketplace and chose never to put it into production. So I dragged it home and have had it for over a decade. I know nothing about organs - as far as I know this could be the most common organ ever manufactured. If anyone could offer anywhere I could get more information about this I would be ecstatic. My father wants to throw it out because we have so much "junk" but how do you destroy a prototype? (If it even is one...) Please Help!
Interesting! Weird that there are only 9 out of 12 keys. No chords or bass for B, C# or F#. Why where these left out? That could indicate a prototype, perhaps. Not an expert though...
Hmm, maybe not so weird after all. They did produce a model called 4100 BP that has the same chord set up. It went into production 1959. The white keys or your looks like piano keys rather than thin organ keys. Either it was a prototype or a simpler model pre 1959. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chord_organ#mediaviewer/File:Wurlitzer_4100_BP.jpg
At least they did produce a model 4000: Maybe you want to order the instruction book? Then you'll know better... http://www.amazon.com/Pointers-Wurlitzer-Chord-Organs-Instruction/dp/B0061115V0
I recently got a very similar chord organ, same model number but a very different music stand. The badge on my organ is also different, it is in on the back too but on the right side. Serial number is 324408. The only information I have found is from this website... https://archive.org/stream/OrganBlueBook-1985-1986/OrganBlueBook1986-Pt.3_djvu.txt
I know it was made in 1958 or so.
Please let me know if you have learned anything new about it I am very interested in this organ as well.

Hi. I had originally intended to simply reply to this post, but this site only allows images in the original post and not replies, so I started a new post in order to display my photos.
In any event, I was wondering if anyone here had ever found out anything about this particular organ in the 5 years that have passed since this was originally posted. (Hoping folks will get a notice that this post has received a response.)
I've got nearly identical (save a few keys colored differently,) right down to the serial number, and just looking to get any information I can. I'm in the same boat as the original post here -- cannot find any information on it.
The link to my post with photos is here: https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/285456-wurlitzer-model-4000-circa-1959--seek
If you remove the screws on the back of the instrument there should be a information paper on the tuning and whatnot make model take to the back and side panel I only know because I had the similar find on the side of the road and didn't know it at the time when I got it home small paper fill up from the back containing the information about the Oregon of since lost the paper and couldn't regret it more hopefully one of these two posts on here finds the paper so we can find out more information
