Hi
Can anyone tell me about the mark on the base, particularly as to whether the "13" means anything. I can see a lot of Upsala Ekeby on the internet, though this piece only says "Ekeby 13".
Is there a name for this particular design?
Does the piece date from the 1960's?
It is a beautiful piece.
Measures:
10cm x 7cm x 11cm.
Thank you.
Kind regards
Kattchaa
The 13 is probably the mold number
beautiful!!
Uppsala and Ekeby are towns Sweden, so maybe that has something to do with the mark. A company called Gelfe also has pieces with the Upsala-Ekeby mark . Maybe the towns are close together like Minneapolis-St Paul? I’m sure I read somewhere that there was a factory in Karlskrona too
That doesn’t really answer your question though !
OK, I found a piece with the same Ekeby mark, but it is also signed by one of their famous artists, however it can help date your piece at least to 1944-63 range?http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=sv&u=http://www.antikviteter.net/antikprat/messages/13470/336229.html%3F1268066911&prev=search

I'm amazed you know about Upsala-Ekeby company in my country Sweden. It a company who made porcelain.

Sorry, the link only shows a photo and no information. Search on line for 'Upsala Ekeby ceramics' or porcelain. I'm sure you can read something there in english.
Searched and found out Upsala-Ekeby company was running 1886-1977. The bought Karlskrona company that Mary mentioned.
Thank you, everyone. It is a beautiful piece and available. It is wonderful to learn about all of this.
Elisabethan, we were trying to determine when the mark “EKEBY” on its own was used. Can you help with that?
