    (439 items)

Help needed for the maker's mark!!!
    This is a salvage.
Seller auctioned the two monkeys as individual!
My "kyratisation" was to add a chain, a lacking end pearl and an old bead below.
The acrobatic monkeys brooches exists too in diamonds, the back of the swinging one set with colored stones.
I saw one signed by Knoll and Pregizer.
These monkeys are fine costume, unmarked gold and silver, pastes.
The upper monkey bears an unknown maker's mark (same as on last pic, from an other auction).

I have this exact mark on several other brooches with pastes too, and still unable to find the maker :-(

Mark in last pic still unknown!
Found more paste pieces with same mark, will post soon :-)

What exactly are the monkeys made of? If silver, try http://www.925-1000.com that may help
    16. kyratango kyratango, 9 years ago
Thanks Robin, it is silver, but the sort of etruscan vase mark isn't a hallmark, but a maker's mark.
I wasn't able to find a name for it anywhere on Internet, though the maker did quality paste jewellery in number!!!

I showed them to my mom she said that she remembers her mother and her aunt had matching broochs. She said that she thinks they were made in england or europe becayse their husbands brought them back from WWII.

      hi Kyratango,
loooong time no see! I am also trying to track this mark down, seen it many times now. Very frustrating. I have seen it used in conjunction with Murrle Bennett & Co mark so its possible they manufactured for or were bought in by the company...

if someone could look through their records might be useful...?

      Hi Period_gems !
Missed you and your posts !

I never saw it with other marks...
And always with paste stones, no enamel or cabochons...

Those monkeys were made too by Knoll and Pregizer in the exact same model !

I have a pinterest page with all the pieces I encountered on internet:

      http://pin.it/LCUo2sW

I call this mark etruscan urn, but could be an amphora...

You're right, it is very frustrating to find nothing about a maker who did such an amount of beautiful pieces :-(

      Happy monkey new year ! ! !

I think period_gems might be on to something even if I can't find the answer. I googled Murrle Bennett & Co and the founder came from Pforsheim Germany. The 925 together with a makers mark after can be seen. I just can't find this mark of ours. I'm a little confused by the fact that among the pinterest pieces you showed one had a safetyclasp that felt too modern and I'm also concerned that a lot of pieces with this mark seams to turn up now. Another thing is the stronge mix of georgian and edwardian look of my brooch. But that doesn't mean there is something wrong, we just need to continue our search and update eachother when/if we find out more.
    24. Elisabethan Elisabethan, 8 years ago
Ment to write "strange mix" about my brooch.
    25. kyratango kyratango, 8 years ago
So, Elisabethan, the mark on your edwardian brooch is the same :-)
The safety roll over clasp on the pinterest parrot is a replacement!
I strongly believe this maker is from Germany, and from Pforzheim ( being the jewellery german center then, good probability!).
Found nothing either in my books...

Great kyratango, that's good. Some of your marks looked more alike my mark than others.
