Globes and Pumps and Pumps and Globes and then there are the Signs and rings and rings and poles and it never seems to end! But then that is part of the fun of it! I just saw a very cool sign appear on Ebay that I have been trying to buy for months now and suddenly I see it on Ebay? Wow! I bid on the sign, what seems like a fortune to me and win the bid only to find I didnt even make the reserve! Within minutes someone else outbids me so I add a few hundred dollars to the bid and win it again without making the reserve? What I think? Then before I can get my breath I see that another "watcher" immediately makes a higher bid! Wow this is like playing poker in Vegas I am thinking so I give up! That's life in the collection of gas pumps, globes, and cool porcelain signs. At AaaLakesidestorage.com we try really hard not to drive the prices up over what we consider to be a "fair price" as we realize that this is a hobby and needs to remain a hobby rather than turn in to a speculative business where only the rich can enjoy the fun of the hunt. The fun is obviously when the hunt allows you to take home the prize you have found! We really don't understand why certain fairly common electric pumps like the Wayne 60s cost more than a similar condition visible? The visible is older and, in many ways, a lot more cool? Perhaps it is simple "supply and demand" economics in our capitalistic society which helps make America the great Country that we all love so much? Believe it or not, I actually unearthed a very nice visible gas pump in the back of the bottom of a stack of junk in an old garage while on vacation in Hawaii!!!! That ain't easy folks! We still haven't arrived at the price yet but it has perfect glass and even an original globe for it! Sorry! Can't tell you which Island until I own the pump. Vacations allow a little time for "hunting" but most places are better than Hawaii for finding pumps, globes and signs. Keep hunting! Maybe you'll find something near you and offer it to us because it's too big, or you already have that one, or you just want to see it put in a visible public place where anyone can enjoy seeing it free of charge. Whatever the reason we love to get calls telling us about a sign or pump for sale. Isn't this a great hobby?
