I'm referring to the Bay sign. I just love the shield shape and the brilliant colors of this sign. We bought it from a collector in Salt Lake who had just purchased it from another collector in Evanston Wy to sell to us. Hmmmmm? Why are we always the last puppies to the nipple? Anyway we are very happy to have been able to buy it and it is only one of two that we know of in Utah. Bay was fairly big in Colorado but never made it to Utah.
We love the signs and love the stories that go with each of them. I guess that's what old people do, now that I think about it. We tell stories of the oden days and our escapades to "the younger folks" and bore them to death as we never seem to know when they are spacing off and falling asleep. What r ya gonna do with us old timers? Keep on hunting! There's more signs out there and something in every barn!
I know where a Bay sign is still in front of the station hiding in plain sight because it has been painted over. I'm just waiting to pounce on it:)
Don't wait too long or someone else will pounce on it! When we were back in NC picking up the P-51 Mustang we found a guy that actually had a Bay sign for sale. I guess there are quite a few out there in other States, but very rare in Utah. This is one of my favorites and is the first Banjo sign we bought & stood up. Don't wait! Go get the jewel. Good luck!
