Here are four iron keys, which each measure 3.25" x 2.75" x .75". On side of the keys has in relief, "H.W. Clark Company." The other side reads, "Mattoon, Illinois."
We know that the H.W. Clark Co. foundry in Mattoon, IL conceived and created water meters outside individual homes in the early 1900's. They also made manhole covers and were in operation from 1895 to 1982.
We're guessing that these keys may have been water meter keys, but we're not 100% sure. This is such an unusual shaped key that we'd like to know more.
