    Our nonprofit group gets some odd donations, and we're stumped with this one! About 5" wide, 7" tall, rolls freely. The spikes are metal, as is the handle (although it's coated with something that's a little chipped: ceramic? rubber? bakelite?)

      TC - I didn't look at the size - I guess 5" wide would take forever to aerate a lawn

      Tool I think for *Softening* something -- like maybe leather to help bend/work it?? Just my guess.

      The roller looks homemade but if you google "vintage (or antique) meat tenderizer roller" you should find similar pieces.

      that is for "docking" doughs, peircing them so that they bake smooth and flat. pie crusts and flat breads get this treatment to prevent bubbling
