Life is filled with "gulfs" of about every kind that seem to hold us back from reaching our goals. We had the hardest time finding a Gulf sign when we started out looking for signs and it seemed that there was a giant "gulf" between us and a big 6' Gulf sign. Finally after driving a very long ways on a very long and successful hunting trip, we stopped off at an antique dealers place in Bixby Oklahoma and he had this early style Gulf sign in his sign pile. We bought about 4-5 signs from this very nice guy and the Gulf was one of them. Once we had the Gulf it seemed easy to find more of them and now we have three of them. All different styles. So it is with life I guess? Getting past those "gulfs" in life seems to take a lot of persistence at times and patience to go along with it can be really helpful. With sign hunting it isn't a lot different and the next "gulf" for us to get across is finding that elusive 6' red Flying A sign that seems to elude us. In the mean time we will just be patient and keep on hunting! Happy hunting to you too!

I like your carefree style! Wish I could come see your collection, but doesn't seem to be in the cards. I tried, but they told me my Eastern Airlines return ticket from 1982 wasn't good anymore! Miss talking with Frank too! Really nice guy.

Would you have any interest in trading your Eastern Airlines tickets for some of my same vintage Pride Airline tickets? I think I have about 8 tickets to anywhere Pride Airlines flys avail. (They went broke shortly after I bought the tickets) I got a great deal on them tho as I knew one the guys who started the Airline. Went to College with him. Experience is expensive!

Oops! I forgot! I also have some other good trading stock. I have a lot of points with Pan Am and TWA and I think I still have a fair amount with Western Airlines. Any interest in flying with any of them? If you have an interest I also have some Ocean Front property for sale/Rent on the West side of the Moon. AND we give Green stamps!

While you're waiting to decide which of the great ticket deals I have is the best, you might just want to go to aaalakesidestorage.com and hit the museum button and check out some of the pictures we have online. They are the newest but do give some pretty good shots of some of the stuff.

How many green stamps? I used to know the Allisons. but that was back about 10 yrs. after the dinosaurs died off! Love radials!

The great engine that made the P-51 famous was the Rolls Merlin. 1650 hp flew at 450mph range 1000 mi, ceiling 35,000', six 50 cal guns& carried bombs. Used it in Europe, Asia, then Korea and even in Vietnam for recon & mapping. Awesome planes. Will have to discuss quantity of Green Stamps.

I just got a GULF frame like this and motorized pole that spins in a circle.

By the way, as I remember, the Allison was used in PT boats etc. Those engines aren't certified to just drop in a P-51 but there are ways to use the parts I believe. The label EXPERIMENTAL gives a lot of slack. Just something you might want to watch for in your travel, Gulliver. Bon chance on looking for WWII boats in the deserts! LOL!!

Trey, I read about your new find with the motorized pole etc and envied the find and applaud you for your good fortune. I just love finding new stuff! Then the work begins! I found a new American 5'x7' sign last night and got my son to buy it for us this morning. She even delivered it 120 mi!!!

Blunderbuss, I wasn't aware of the Allisons being in those boats, but as you say, hunting WWII boats in Utah may be discouriging. I'd love to get one of the RR engines just for display, but they aren't just lying under the sage brush either

Wow another great find and a delivery:) Never had that luxury before.
