Years ago this was sold to as a Swedish cupboard. As you can see on the pictures this (heavy) cupboard could be moved in case of emergencies (fire, flooding,...)
Inside would hang their coats (see last picture detail of the hooks in the left side door,) and silver spoons (see last picture detail of the hanging mechanism in the right door). In the drawers would lie hats etc...
The secretary itself ofcourse would hold their valuables.
The planks were added later.
We've never had any confirmation that this in fact is a Swedish cupboard, kinda difficult to describe. Nor do we know it's age.
As you see we still use it today came across this site and thought I might 'test' this... ;-)
