Was cleaning out my parents' old house and found this guy wrapped up and well protected in a Cedar chest. He either belonged to my eldest brother or my mother.
He is 18" tall with a satin body. Hands, feet, and head are fuzzy, soft material. His face is an unknown cloth with the exception of his nose, which is wood. His nose winds up and he plays a tune - he still works.
He comes with a tag, which says he is from Ideal Novelty & Toy Company. That is the only identification we could find on him. Would love some help with further identification, I have no idea what year he was made but I know he is very old.
The company changed it's name from Ideal Novelty and Toy Company to just Ideal Toy Co. in 1938. They also changed their logo. The Ideal logo on your tag was used from 1907 to 1938.
I have the Same clown I have searched and searched and this the only thing I could find on him. Does anyone know this clowns name?
I just found this same exact clown but his outfit is different in the picture shown he jas poke a dot outfit mine has different one.
I have one just like this. Can anybody tell me how old this is? My grandpa gave me this clown when I was about 12 and I’m 60 now. He said he won it at a carnival. He was born in 1900, I believe he was about 12 or 13 when he got it. Would really like any info anybody would have. Thank you
