Two days ago we bought this rare lidded jar or bowl, I do not the exact word in English, to Dorita. It is done in a pale blue ribbed glass hand blown with mastery since it is almost a perfect ball. It is in perfect condition and is big to be a preserve bowl. I thought it was rather new, about 1965, though the applied leaves that are a sort of foot, were not in use for that time. Our surprise was big wheh Sergio turn on the black light and the brown parts resulted done in uranium glass. So it is much older as previously evaluated. I could not find any similar on the web, please click on the image to see them bigger. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
stunning!!!
Lovely jar Silvia! I'm hispanic but have never heard the word Dorita.
Hi,Silvia!Your newest finding remindes me mine which comes from 1930s.It 's got very similar lid with a grip like a stem,it's made of optical glass too and ,I guess, their
utility was the same. They were used for serving cold or hot drinks. However yours seems to be smaller(in comparison to glasses). It looks more artistic because of its foot.I'll post mine later to compare.
Anyway,I love yor fruit (pumpkin?)!!
