If you look very carefully you will see a NOS Romort water tower right at the corner of the Texaco Station. It actually still has the original packing paper on the upper part of the tower. We found this advertised for sale in a local newspaper. They normally stood along side the gas pumps and air filling hoses somewhere on the Island. In those days we called them "Service Stations" as that was what they actually were before "gas stations" we're invented. That was before R rated movies and pay per view TV. It was when kids had respect for adults and school teachers were smart and people worked for food. Those were the best of times and the worst of times. They were the Olden Days of our youth! We all grew up frightened to death of catching Polio! The dreaded disease that had taken down many of our friends and loved ones. We cheered when the vaccine was invented to protect us and I remember having to wait to go and get mine. No one ever considered suing a Drug Company for some side effect and Drug Companies saved our lives and were the good guys!!! Life was different in the days of Service Stations and Romort water fillers. Keep hunting as good stuff is still out there!
VERY VERY COOL!!
