A little confused about what strain of kokeshi this is...Looks like one thing...but also look like another...Adore this lovely face!...Hoping someone can set me right...Also need assistance to identify artist...Cheers
Think this one is a ZAO Kokeshi...
Bushbaby I love this one, I spent a little time trying to figure out what type of Kokeshi this one is, as it reminds me of Zao in just the way the neckline is painted and the nice hints of blue. Then looking further at it the facial features say Togatta, particularly the split nose (Zao typically has round noses) and Okkapa hair with the side tufts style. I haven't been able to match the signature to any I have on file. A clearer picture would be good too :) If I run into any info I'll be sure to post. I'm leaning more towards Togatta but I could be surprised in that it turns out to be Zao -Soul
Glad I was not the only one to struggle with this Soul...I'm wondering if it maybe another transitional artist???...I'll try to get a better pic of the signature...my 'two bit' camera...as you say there...does sometimes co-operate...post tomorrow if I can...I adore this one too...the face is simply gorgeous...

One of our members, recognized it right away! To my surprise it is a Yajiro Kokeshi! It is by Niiyama Junichi ( Y.O.B 1953 - ) , His master is Niiyama Keimi , the father of Niiyama Junichi. -Soul

Well...would never have thought that...What a complex hobby we have chosen...!!!

bushbaby I was equally as surprised, it certainly made me take a double look and when I compared to other Niiyama-san Kokeshi sure enough the nose! eyes.... it just all came together. Thank you too, I learned something new because of your good mystery!
