I had these collars made for these slightly average iridescent vases. The silversmith had free reign for the larger but was given a J Hummel, Vienna, pattern for the second (to hide a chipped rim) and carried it off very well.
Possibly my maddest moment to date in glass collecting - I am sure more will follow. It certainly "lifts" the vases. Cesar says they could be napkin rings if I get bored of them.
The maker is Julian Stephens of Brighton, hallmark "q" for 2015.
The 4th photograph is of a Hummel mount ca. 1902 from "Jugendstil Art Nouveau: floral and functional forms" by Siegfried Wichmann, Boston, 1984.
Wow, Ian! What amazing work! These collars sure do elevate the vases - they are just beautiful together. I love your creativity!
Not mad at all, Ian, they're lovely.
:-) haha
What a great idea! And a problem to solve for collectors in a hundred years!
