Hoya Crystal were one of the best at making exquisite crystal objects and in the 1980s and 1990s produced some truly incredible work.
This dish was designed by Saburo Funakoshi to show ice forming on a lake.
It has initially been moulded with a chunky, icy texture on the back, and then the bottom has been cut and polished to allow clear glass to show as the water.
It is an incredible piece of art, and when I first received it I was blown away. I am still staring at it and picking it up. I wish you could too.
If you see one of these, buy it! Beautiful art, and I think this museum series Hoya will just keep appreciating.
Width 26cm weight 1.7kg
Note: I have to admit I used pictures from someone else (the first two) because I didn't capture it well.
So cool Karen !... (pun intended) ).....it looks as though it could start melting at any minute.
This is equally stunning, Karen. Just beautiful.
Glad you think so Mike! I've never actually seen a frozen lake....
