This trunk i was able to find a key to work so I got it open. If any body has the antique trunk id guide I believe its the one on page 80. They just don't mention a manufacturer. Inside is very nice, outside needs work.
Looking for a manufacturer. I believe its from the 1920's. The outside appears to be vulcanized? Has neverbreak on the handles. Was that a trademark of crouch fitzgerald? Got bot trunks for 20 dollars
Thanks

Neverbreak was a line of trunks made by Goldsmith and Son Trunk Co. of Newark, NJ in the early 1900's until the 1940's. They had nothing to do with Crouch & Fitzgerald of NY. Neverbreak trunks were a variety of wardrobe trunks, mostly covered with vulcanized fibre. I have an ad from the company from 1922 which shows their line of trunks. This trunk looks like something from the 1930's to 1940's to me.
You may want to do an image search for Wheary trunk ads 1920's and 1930's. I have one similar and it is a Wheary.
thank you
i'll search that name
yes do a search on wheary, its a little different than mine but similar in many waya. my bet is wheary
The 1900 Sears catalog has over 40 trunks listed with illustrations, describtions and prices. The orginal catalog is hard to come across but there is some nice reproductions on the market along with DVDs.
