This Dartington Crystal Decanter was picked up for a bargain price of £1. ????
Designed by Frank Thrower in the 1960s for Dartington Crystal & was one of the most popular til it' was discontinued in the 1980s..
It's 26.2cm high & holds 80cl.
The body of the decanter is short & cylindrical in section, with thickened base. This has a central polished pontil . The body tapers in at the shoulder to form a narrow cylindrical neck. The rim is reverted & flat.
The stopper is of solid form with flattened discoid apex . The peg of the stopper & neck of the decanter are ground to allow close fitting.
It doesn't look like it's ever been used & cost close to £100.00 when bought !
Still has original sticker . it's in close to new condition & I think a very cool shape .
Hope you like it ????
Heavy and elegantly simplified (tastefully !)..
Pun intended ! :..:
It's beautiful ! Really ! If it were mine I'd be tempted to perhaps put something of equal value to age and discretely and tightly seal it. It would make a very personable and cherish-able investment through it's aging of a fine liqueur or whiskey that will only get better w/ age and already being of a high-end antique would quadruple in a hundred yrs. I really would !! And I think it'd look spectacular w/ a deep amber or whatever. ? To show it off ! I'd even have a special label made for it !
I say this cuz I have a friend who has done this. That's where this all came from ! But it's a nice idea ! And just thought I'd share that w/ you ! :..: Thanx !
thanks Lambda55 for your love & cool comments , I think your right about putting something of quality inside it!!
it would definatly look good with a coloured drink like blue curacao or crème de monte , but its gotta be an expensive brandy I think !! lol trouble is it'll be so hard to not drink it !! lol
thanks for your loves -
