We bought this lovely bucket to Dorita a few days ago. You know my eyes are not good enough and although the porcelain was of quality I thought that the pattern was a Dresden flowers transfer. The mark of the blank was cancelled with black painting under the glaze. I began searching Dresden refineries mark but I did not find any with this crossed lines and S. Today Sergio put a bright light and we were surprised, it was a Tressemann & Vogt blank. Sure it was decorated during some period near the first war in Germany when restriction for French porcelain existed. Besides this finding the flowers are clearly hand painted as the pseudo Capodimonte gold border. Any information about the blue mark is welcome.
I found one similar here http://www.antiquepeek.com/Limoges_butter_dish.htm and there it says that “The T&V Limoges factory is a recognized leader amongst the Limoges companies and deservingly so. The inside of the tub, as well as the insert, are painted with a covering of subtle yet colorful iridescence, making for a glowing presentation. The back stamp on this piece, as shown below, was used between 1892 and 1917, as stated in the well known Kovel's Dictionary of marks. This French butter tub measures 5 inches in diameter tapering to 4? at the bottom, 5? across the handles, 2 inches tall, 2¾ in height at the handles, and the liner is 4 inches in diameter, which fits the interior perfectly as it should. This is an attractive and appealing French Limoges butter tub and these roses will blend splendidly with many other serving accessories, please add it to your dinnerware and enjoy serving your guest with a little French ambiance”.
