    Three Thomas Yates Britannia metal dog head whistles from 1870s - 1890s and one J.Hudson 1930s dog head whistle made of Bakelite. These whistles were probably used by hunters of that period.

      I have never considered whistles before but I am now totally engaged.

      I always get the funny look when i tell people i collect whistles, well until they actually see them then its ohh wow. I think most people think of normal standard referee whistles but there is a lot of variety and history behind them

      As I remember reading once, many people in "olden days" wore whistles to summon aid. Makes sense. Probably wouldn't work today!
