Looks like an autopsy table; what is it?

Tables749 of 1382found this table all in parts and painted pink sanded it down assembled and varnished this is what i have! rare local funeral director item!

    What was the original purpose for this item? The "trough" on the top has me baffled. It's about four to five feet long and looks like it from the 50's to me. I know it's not really an autopsy table (too short) but what could it be?

      I believe that would be called either a crown top or crown head display table. Got its name from the trim looking similar to crown molding. Autopsy table would be made of non porous material like marble or stainless steel etc.
