July of 1935 was a bad year for a lot of people in Oklahoma City, as that was when the first Parking Meters were installed in America. From there the idea spread from city to city like the plague until free parking has pretty much become a thing of the past. Sort of like cheap gas And a lot of other things from the Olden Days. This old parking meter was something my dad had out in front of his auto restoration shop as a joke for his friends and visitors. It came from downtown Provo Utah and I think he got it from the scrap Metal yard back in the days when they used to let people rummage thru things and buy scrap by the lb. Those days are also long gone! We think that placing a parking meter next to a free air meter fits with a lot of what we see in society today. This one is out in the drive thru area of our antique Texaco Station at aaaLakeside Storage in Provo and is just another reminder of the Olden days as it takes nickels dimes and quarters. There is still a lot of good stuff out there so keep on Hunting! The fun is the Hunt!
