This is another in my series of enamelled flowers on green satin glass. This vase is gigantic compared with the others. It shows five carnations in all, from closed bud to fully opened flower, It also depicts the habit of carnations.....they do have a tendency to fall over....sometimes even before opening!

The glass on this one looks darker because, being bigger, it's also thicker. It was in a filthy condition and I've still not managed to get a proper shine on the enamelling. I have no doubt that they all came from the same maker. I will always buy another if it has a different flower. So far I have the dog rose, the pansy orchid and the carnation.

Thank you Michelle for identifying this as Goldberg. :-)

My spelling of 'enamelled' and 'enamelling' is correct in British English.

    Height 27cm./10.5 inches.

Thanks Ivonne, for the love and the comment. I'd not thought of them as a garden before.....a lot less trouble than my actual garden! Peggy

Very beatiful, they have the border of each design in yellow with a line that has certain 3d?
    7. sklo42 sklo42, 10 years ago
Yes kivatinitz, you are correct. On all of them the leaves have a raised 'tube line' edging rather like Moorcroft Pottery. The small ones particularly show a high level of enamelling skill.
Thank you for your interest, Peggy.

Hi Peggy, this is a style of enameling that was done by Goldberg; I have posted two examples on CW of examples with iris; I have seen carnations a few times, too, but not on such a large and nicely-shaped example as yours - very, very nice! :) Here is a link to one of my iris vases, with the Goldberg label example shown, too: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/137311-carl-goldberg-enameled-iris-vase

Thank you so much Michelle, I am delighted. The treatment of both the rims and the leaves on your Iris vase and my Carnation vase leave little doubt. As much as anything, a thread running through them all is that the colours used are the same. Thank you for your link....a picture's worth a thousand words. Peggy :-)
