Not asking for any kind of appraisal ... just asking for a more knowledgable eye! :)

Update! I now know this is a Antique Celluloid Kewpie Doll! Progress! The specifics of her fancy dress (christening gown?) are proving the harder part to pin down. But I'm closer! Date seems to be cirqua 1920s? ANY help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    ---

This little doll is one of the many mysteries from my "antique box" that I compiled when I was young. Like most items in my box, I doubt she is of any worth other than the value of being something my mom or grandmother owned (or great-grandmother - but that is probably limited to the other doll I have).

This little doll is SO fragile (some kind of very thin plastic that is seamed... I want to say hard plastic, but I really don't know, since the plastic is so old and thin), wavy hair, big eyes, jointed arms, some sort of ripped-by-time red (mail?) stamp on the bottom that says "Passed F.E ....". Her dress is a delicate see-through material with creme/peach ribbons. She is about 5-6 inches tall (I can't get a measuring tape to go around the dress without getting nervous I'll injure some part of her, she is a good 2 inches shorter than the dress). She really is that fragile.

I thought maybe she was a Campbell or a Patsy... but a few online sources claim - that while similar - she is not a match. So... who is she?

LOL... it's funny to go through so much trouble to decipher out her origins... however... I can't help but assume the irony has a reflection of my own search. Anyway... Mystery Doll #2 will be posted later... one mystery at a time is all I have time for. ;)

She is celluloid and from 1940 appx. The dress does not appear original to her . Are her legs attached so it forms one ? Celluloid dents and cracks easy . These are often called Carnival dolls .
