    blunderbuss2
    (199 items)

OK, here another one is. (Actually 2, but just pics of 1). The real pegs just shows quality that screws can't match. My 2 (was 5), was made by a local furniture maker in his small shop. I knew him well as a kid in the late 50's I loved him telling about the old days. He told me how to find the old water mill(still in operation then) & stagecoach stop N. of town & the owner was as interesting & about as old as the furniture maker. I soaked up everything they told me about pre 1900 ways. The furniture maker was in his 90's when I made friends & was 6 yrs old when the enemy invaded during the Atlanta campaign.
I've tried to remember a time when these weren't around our breakfast table (made by the same man) and can't. That makes me think about 1951-2.

I used the backdrop as a tease to the Yankees. They invaded again in the 2nd half of the 20th century, so I gave up & moved further South. Now they are invading here!!!

Hey Phil! I noticed it took them quite awhile to add my poste. Staff must have really searched for overt or covert meanings in every sentence I made. Maybe they are wiser than I previously thought! (Or learning). LOL!!

Blunder, thanks for sharing your chair. It is indeed very much like mine, perhaps same wood, difficult to tell. Let me know if you are ever willing to part with it! Thanks again. I have an old table in storage I could not remember "not sitting around" as a child. I should get it out and see what it is.
    5. fhrjr2 fhrjr2, 10 years ago
As one man's opinion I think the seat was pegged when it was re-caned. I am also willing to bet it is at least a decade older than your estimate and probably more. Obviously this was not mass produced because of the differences in the turnings etc. It was done by someone who loved the work they did and did it with limited equipment compared to today. Thanks for sharing it.

Love this! Guess you can never out run the Yankees!
    7. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Card, these are almost the only heirlooms my sister didn't steal so, no.
Fhr: There were originally 5 & they are all pegged, so, no. Original pegs.
V/L, we couldn't out run them & now can't run them out! Now we have been forced to accept their plastics. C'est l'vive, sad as it is. It hurts to see people lowered to their level. Tear.

      beautiful!!!!!! :)
    9. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Good to hear from you SEAN. You're late & missed the shrimp hors d'oeuvres with Greek sauce. But if you get here in time, we have Texas BBQ, later made with goat meat or iguana. (Which ever you prefer). I recommend the iguana.
    10. SEAN68 SEAN68, 10 years ago

Only 2 standing. (I'm not one of them). Have to find your own place to sleep, but I can point you toward a good warm body.
    14. SEAN68 SEAN68, 10 years ago
      LOL!!!! AWESOME!!!! ;)
    15. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Shame you didn't make it Sean. The "warm body" & I planned to chain you to the other cane bottom chair & hold you captive until you replaced the bottom of the other chair. (Job I've been avoiding for 1 1/2 yrs!) LMFAO!! That is 1 B of a job to do them right!! Better luck next time. LOL!

    18. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Phil, I never shared with you that I invented a better ENIGMA machine at age 3? Staff hasn't proven to be stupid or slow. I'm not paranoid. I KNOW I'm being watched! LOL! Keep in touch pal. What would we do without you?
    19. Zowie Zowie, 10 years ago
Love the chairs wicker base aren't they or my eyes deceiving me. Yes I am jealous of the view even though I'm not far way from it I can't see it but I do have the mountains that I get to appreciate just as lovely & I can always go to the beach. We recently brought a old table & chair set I believe made of Teak with the backing on the chairs are wicker. We have a French polisher that lives near us & he was appreciating our set one day & found they have some age by how they were put together. The wood has been drilled out the screwed in I think but the guy was saying it looks as if it was done with a hand drill I don't know how he could tell so that made me happy. He judged it also on the cut & placement of the chairs. Someone varnished the top but it still shows it's life marks so I'm happy with that I'll have to get a photo one day been pretty lax of late

Zowie is in New Zealand BB and I would have come to visit till I see how high up a hill you are !!!!!!!!! Has aircraft ever hit your roof on take off <wink>
    23. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
      Thanks Roy. That was interesting.
Mani, now is a good time to visit as Jacky left last Monday on a mega-yacht on the way to the Med.. We are sending "Tropical Disturbance Jacky" warning along her route. The planes bank away as soon as they take off, because they don't want to hit the mountain!
    24. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 10 years ago
just about out of firewood up here in the mtns .snowed all day today, sure could use that chair ...lol
    25. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Roy, you never let me down for surprises! You must have cabin fever. LOL! Just been burning some stumps in the yard today & the wood smoke reminded me of days best forgotten. "We were meant to suffer". Well, you were anyway!
    26. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 10 years ago
Cabin fever isn't the word for it ...I got so much to do in so little time up here...lol thought you were going to say you were smoking stumps ...o my,... next would be banana peals ....LOL Suffer...ya i'm married ....there go's supper...sleeping alone again huh ....oh welllllllllllllllll. maybe she'll come back...don't know why tho...te he
    27. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Roy, I don't smoke anything anymore. Now these brownies are a diff. thing. And, she always comes home (usually early from being fired & kicked off the yachts. 3 weeks ago they left her in Tortola!)

blunderbuss2 I live in Queensland Australia haven't been ignorant just been off line I have noticed of few post have been pulled DrFluffy for one & PhilDavidAlexandera for another don't tell me he has also left this sitr
    29. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Afraid so Zowie. Can't seem to reason with them. I am beginning to think of it as selfish behavior, to deprive all of us of friendship, expertise & reference material.

All because of some bum'ble clot who they are making happy with their actions. These are some of the friends that I considered to have stronger character than displayed so far. To say I'm disappointed in their actions is the mildest way I can express my feelings.
    30. Zowie Zowie, 10 years ago
I'm with you why let a few or maybe one spoil it for all if I knew who they were would stay away so I didn't get put in a situation I can do without if you don't help or visit a site why would you show. Some should just grow up & be adults like I thought we all were on here as not many children collect. Have a top day
    31. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Zowie, considering the time diff., maybe you should have said, "Have a nice yesterday". LOL!

    34. Zowie Zowie, 10 years ago
You could be correct on that but whatever the difference be safe sleep well & enjoy your days.
    35. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Mani, at least you are here today instead of tomorrow! Just talking to Inky a minute ago but actually tomorrow. As if the time zones aren't confusing enough. govt's. throw in DST to confuse & fool us more! We don't use DST here & I'm getting vertigo & going to crash. Vir-vin, glad you liked it. Thanks for your comment. I'm going inverted & that tells me it's time to crash & burn. Bon nuit, all!

Just passing through I thought I would pop in & see if you had anything new no luck catch up with you next time. Enjoy your next flight & take care
    37. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Hey, Zowie! Great to hear from you. You just caught me passing thru too, as I'm bored sh-tless. Slow season (read that in slow motion). Can't have a beer for 10 days because of antibiotics & ready to kill something. So, tell me how things are going across the waters with you.

Enjoyed that tremendously Roy, but fail to see the connection to an Appalachian chair?
    40. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 9 years ago
      what chair....smiling
    41. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Roy, are you Jamaican? I used to say that Jamaica should be turned into one big circus, but who ever heard of a circus with nothing but clowns.
    42. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 9 years ago

    43. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
I'm retired now Roy. LOL! Do miss it though. I'm not paranoid. I know I'm being watched!
    44. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 9 years ago
I notice that you have over 75 followers on your profile page ,..most likely there waiting for you to run for president ...lol
and now that your not working on planes I can fly now ...smiling
    45. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
You might not be so safe Roy. Our only FAA inspector on the Rock died & as I was an inspector before, I am refreshing my memory to renew my license. I still work on & inspect planes for friends. I still keep my promise to my mother that I would never fly in anything I worked on. She was a wise woman.
    46. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 9 years ago
o g ....you an inspector,,, no wonder so many small planes go down ...lol
one would guess its a hell of a responsibility to have or want to do for anyone, taint like someone in a garage slapping a sticker on your junk car cause your a friend ...lol falling from 10,000 ft is a big thing to me ...o my
    47. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Never had one of my planes go down Roy. The friends that I keep their planes up refuse to let anyone else touch them except if something goes wrong in another country & I have been flown to other countries to get their planes in the air. We "stole" a friends plane in the Turks & Caicos a few yrs. back from their CAB. You are right about the responsibility. I do not like inspecting & signing off planes I don't extremely well or their mechanics.
    48. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 9 years ago
Never had one of my planes go down as far as you know but one or two could be at the bottom with Charle tuna for all u know ...lol just kidding..so how many hours on a plane before it has to be torn down and recertified air worthy...

    49. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Roy, engines are scheduled that way but not airframes. They keep reminding us that this is not fb & certainly has nothing to do with the chair or CW. My email address is on my profile page.
    50. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 9 years ago

    53. Roycroftbooksfromme1, 9 years ago
well,.. if that floats your boat go for it ...lol
    54. Zowie Zowie, 9 years ago
I finely got to fining this Email been off line again it's really peeving me as when you do get a line it just keeps dropping out so in frustration I give up. Anyway apart from my mum in-law passing suddenly all is going in the Wright direction. Mum went really quickly so we were told an never felt anything that's good because she was one of the good people put on this earth. Anyway have a top day I will.
    55. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Think tomorrow may be a finer day Zowie. Tomorrow is day 11 after 10 days without a beer because of taking antibiotics. Do you live anywhere near Penny?
    56. Zowie Zowie, 9 years ago
You sure will be looking forward to that cold beer if you haven't had it yet but over the years I didn't find any difference when taking medicine & drinking I know you shouldn't but sometimes we do just what we want especially when bored like now I don't know if I want to sit here & do my Emails as I haven't touched them either or go for a walk & visit a neighbour which is something I also do seldom I pretty much keep to myself.
    57. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
I made it Zowie!! 10 days 23 hrs 17 mins. & 12 secs.! Actually, I drank the 1st beer slowly ( 8mins. 23 secs). LOL!! Sorry about your mum-in-law. Sounds like you really liked her. More than most couples I know can claim. Finally found out why Jacky put her B cap & cape on around me. Tells people I got her pregnant & kicked her out & that is a lie. Kicked her out before I knew! Well this doesn't have anything to do with the chair & I've been reprimanded by staff a few times. A bientot.
