Found this nice little winter landscape at GW this afternoon. It has a simple gold frame with a painted white matte board. The backing was actually a piece of peg board ! I think it might have had glass over it which was missing. Someone broke something last week this might have been it. I had a nice frame and glass ready to go and amazingly the whole frame fit inside giving it a very nice multi layer look. Lifted it from plain to perfect ! It's painted with what appears to be oils on art paper. I opened it up and found that it is a sheet of paper mounted to art board. I also found a dedication on the back with the date of May, 1920. The signature looks like H.G. Downs and dated 20'. So that matches the back dedication. Not sure if he or she is a listed artist or not. There sure are a lot of Downs to sort through. Back to researching ! -Mike-
After seeing this, I won't have to turn on the airco tinite!
