This simple box was used to warm one's feet. As far as primitives go, this is a little more elaborate than most. The wooden frame with four turned pillars holds a punched tin box. When you open the punched tin door, this reveals a small tray which held the hot coals. The feet are placed on top of the box and the wood protects the feet from coming into direct contact with the hot tin. There is a wire carrying handle in order to move the warmer while still hot. I have tested it, and it really works.
