I've had this vase for years and I just realized that it is marked Blenko, (circa 1959) by Wayne Husted. When inspecting it through a loupe, I noticed a hair line in one of the blobs. I ran my fingers over it and the surface is smooth as ever with absolutely no indications of the slightest crack. Turns out, I think it's an actual hair. In the close up pictures, you can see the tiny little bubbles surrounding what I think is a lock of hair. Perhaps I have a lock of Wayne Huston's hair as a bonus. :D Does it look like a lock of hair to you?
There is a Blenko Collectors Society. But for an hair to get into glass that is going to be fired has to be an amazing survival story.
Thank you GeodeJem. Yes, I think so, too.
How cool is that...DNA in your vase...:-)))...and your mark!..I bet you were thrilled when you first saw what you thought might!! be a mark....I keep looking at my vases over and over willing a mark...:-)
Lol, Inky! I'm going to be looking a lot closer at my glassware from now on. Interestingly, I accidentally found it when I was doing some research on my Blenko bubble vase (which I knew was Blenko) and a blob vase exactly like mine popped up. I sat there staring at the screen for a moment before my brain connected the dots, lol!
In the Fashion of Jurassic Park, you extract the DNA and make yourself a copy of whatever "being" the hair come from! Beware though Prince or pauper you have no choice.
Hahaha! That's too funny, GeodeJem. Now if only I were a scientist.
p.s. its "WAYNE HUSTED" is the designer .
Thank you, Sean, for the correction! I knew that, too! My fingers type faster than my brain can think!
lol!!! been there done that before my self !!
your very welcome Rasetelle!!
