After some research and comparing this necklace to newer versions, I believe this is an old antique Native American choker with hairpipe bone, turquoise and red coral beads. I think the string is sinew. Could someone with more knowledge either concur or rebut and explain why?

All comments welcome! Thank you! Robin

No need to apologize. This is exactly what I need to learn. I'm copying your comments and placing them on the necklace so that I can have a point of reference for future purchases. Yes, I love Native American items. Thanks for commenting! Sincerely, Robin

Val is giving good advice & you would be wise to listen. Learning signs of aging is something that comes with experience & is often painful & expensive. Also, use your common sense, - where would they get un-faded tropical red coral. (also: coral has a texture & not glass smooth). Talk to people with experience & don't believe ANYTHING the seller says. Good luck & show us what you find later.
