    This plate was purchased at the gw I thought it might be old at the time but I am not sure what time period it was made it is nice though. It measures 7 inches Any thoughts friends!? Thanks

      It's a beautiful Wedgwood basalt plate. I'm not a big fan of Wedgwood but I find the basalt (black) so striking. I have a book on Wedgwood. I'll take a look and see if I can narrow down a date for you.

      According to my book, Wedgwood began using this mark about 1910, but it doesn't say when, or if, it ceased using it. Wedgwood basalt pottery predates that by quite a bit. Here is some more info:
