The "openwork" design was used for royal comissioned items, such as crowns and tiaras. ------ Both brooches were physically kept in a bank "Trust", secret for over 75 years --- still a secret even years after the passing of Lawrence Dale Bell ---- Larry Bell, founder of THE BELL AIRCRAFT COMPANY. ---------------------------- The P-39 Airacobra was used not only in military activity, these fighter, interceptor, and persuit aircraft also served as fighter and persuit aircraft escorting --- presidents, kings and queens, and other leaders such as Winston Churchill, General Eisenhower, and other heads of state from many countries. ------ Two of the most valuable and historically significant Royal gifts of American and European military history, the P-39 AIRACOBRA had a direct effect on just about every country involved in WORLD WAR II , yet both items were kept a secret for approx. 75 years. --- these two gifts remained a secret for years even after the death of Lawrence 'Larry" Dale Bell, founder of Bell Aircraft, and his wife, Lucille M. Bell. ( who resided at 6 Lagomar Road, Palm Beach, Florida ) -- ( Lucille passed away Dec. 10, 1970, interned at "Our Lady Queen Of Peace", Royal Palm Beach, Fla. ) - ( Lucille M. Bell McNeil ) ------------------------ In 1938 the GREAT DEPRESSION was winding down and the average income was around $1,700 or less per year, if you were lucky enough to have a job. People in the UNITED STATES were more concerned with feeding and supporting their families. Surviving was the main objective. The same was true for Lucille and Larry Bell. All indications are that Lucille and Larry Bell shared the same economic trials and tribulations. Larry Bell was truly dedicated to the advancement of military and civilian aviation. -------- Many museums and institutions have been involved in the research.
