This heavy-weight poster measures 3 feet by 6 feet and is one of the many delightful items I have found while preparing my cousin's estate. The colors are so vibrant, and the scene is so very reminiscent of days gone by. I just love items that transform you into another era, and this does that for me. It is marked Litho in USA and Philipp Sales Inc. I spoke with a gentleman from Philipp Litho who happily shared the history of this piece. He estimated that it was printed from 1958-1960 and that scenes like this or religious in nature were ordered by Douglas Fir plywood company. They attached them to the fronts of their plywood to entice customers to purchase their product. They were also hung by homeowners on either their front doors with a spotlight on them or on interior doors as Christmas decoration. Now that I know they were printed with religious scenes like the nativity, I will be on the hunt for more!
Just found the NATIVITY scene . . . same markings . . . huge(approx 4' x 6') . . . vibrant colors . . .cool piece!
Plus a Winnie the Pooh (and friends) decorating a Christmas tree, but no markings . . .
