Many years ago, one of my employees wanted to travel to India to visit her family but she didn’t have sufficient vacation days left. Since she really wanted or needed to go, I gave her the time off. As a token of her appreciation, she gave me this traditional piece of art work. It wasn’t framed, though, so I went to a store to have it professionally framed. It is a rather large piece and cost me a small fortune I but this is not why I decided to post this.
The funny thing happened when I went to pick it up from the store. After getting the call that my order was ready for pick-up, I went there and handed the lady my order form/receipt. She went to the back and returned after a few minutes to declare that there must be a mistake because she couldn’t find it. I told her that I got the call and that, indeed, it must be ready. This went on for a while, until I started to become a bit irritated. At this point she went to the storage room one more time and returned with my order. She stated that this is the only item matching the order number. I was happy to see it finally. She was very surprised and exclaimed: But you are not Indian!
There you have it: Never judge a book by its cover….
Thanks for looking:)

Ganesha, I love him. What A lovely present for her to bring you back.http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganesha
Yes, a very lovely thoughtful present indeed. When she gave it to me she said that Ganesh was the God of prosperity and wisdom. I think that everyone can use a bit of that:)
I brought a vintage statue of Ganesh back from my travels to Sri Lanka, I'll post soon. Yes he is a great deity, my favourite. ;-)
I am looking forward to seeing your statue:)
