This beautiful brass lock was made by Wilson Bohannan for the Ulster & Delaware RR. This rail line served the Catskill Mountain region of New York State from Kingston, NY to Oneonta, NY. The railroad was constructed in the latter part of the 1800's. This lock is about 130 years old. The U&D was affectionately known as the "Old Up & Down" due to its rollercoaster-like profile through the mountain range. The railroad became the Catskill Mountain Branch of the New York Central RR in 1932. Also shown is a train from the line when this lock was in use.
