http:/In 1924 a mark know as the "Cherry Blossom", in the shape of five "M" was sub-contracted by the Nippon Toki Kasha Company (Noritake Company) to independent companies making porcelain for export the USA Market. I have here collected a number of these and similar marks with the likelihood of a relation to the Noritake sales organization, the US market and a possibly date to the mid 1920s./www.gotheborg.com/marks/20thcenturyjapan.shtml
Thanks kivatinitz for the information & appreciation.
The cup and saucer aren't a match - the legs don't fit on the saucer, and patterns are different. And, if I understand, which is not a normal experience, both the cup and saucer have different marks.
kivatinitz - The "Cherry" marks from your link are not a match to the bottom of the cup, which is marked "Cherry China" not "Cherry Blossom". Here's a Cherry China tea cup and saucer:

Cherry China also has another stamp, "Cherry China Made in Occupied Japan", not instead of the other, but made during different times.
Tea before I look up Lefton.
Gillian, thanks for the information. These pieces belonged to a great-aunt and my knowledge of glassware is zero.
Thanks pops52 for the appreciation.
Not glass pw-collector, porcelain is the right word I think. You're very welcome.
