    The irons may say "Asbestos" but the asbestos was actually in the cover/handle that goes over the iron. These were much cooler for the person doing the ironing. There was also a bit of air space between the iron and the cover to help keep it cool. Most often sold in sets of three there were other sets that came with various irons or bases.
    Made by the Tverdahl-Johnson Company it proudly states on the top of each side of the cover "PAT MAY 22 1900".
    Probably made between 1900 and 1920.
    This set includes the 72-A and 72-B bases, the A is a bit heavier.
